Platinum x Maruzen Shishikura “Ouka” (2023)
Pen Doctor Kiyoko Shishikura regularly hosted “Pen Clinics” at Maruzen department stores. For several years she released Sailor special editions to commemorate these Pen Clinics in collaboration with the brand Sunrise Trading Co. These Sailor editions are extremely hard to find (particularly the older editions) and very beautiful. In 2023 Shishikura announced her departure from Sunrise Trading Co. to work for Tono and Lims, a colorful ink brand. But in September, she announced a surprise Platinum x Maruzen collaboration.
Description
In September 2023 Shishikura announced a surprise collaboration with Platinum to make a special edition 3776 Century for Maruzen. Limited to 300pcs, this 3776 features an orangey pink body (representing the sakura blossom) with golden sakura flowers painted on the body and converter. The section is a sparkly brown to represent the sakura tree trunk.
“Yuki-Asobi” (2024)
From marketing copy: Inspired by a snowy day, the second edition features snowmen and snow bunnies on the nib, barrel and converter. The cat-shaped snowman on the nib reflects the designer’s passion for cats. Following the first “Sakura Blossom” model, the base is blue and the neck part is a slightly darker gray, creating a gentle color scheme. As with the previous model, no lame is used on the body axis portion. The converter design is designed so that it can be displayed while writing.
It seems this pen was also limited to 300pcs.
