The Platinum #3776 Celluloid collection is made with modern tube wrapped celluloid. The slip and seal cap is less effective in the celluloid models, because the celluloid is more porous. All models feature gold plated trim, except the Chinkin Karakusa. All are part of the current special materials collection.

The Chinkin Tortoiseshell uses the celluloid Tortoiseshell base, while the Chinkin Karakusa uses the Midnight Ocean base. Artisans etch the cap and barrel, then fill the etching with platinum powder, which is then covered in urushi.

The Chinkin Tortoiseshell is extremely rare, so snatch it up if you see one!

There is a rare faceted variant on the standard celluloid. I have seen the Octagonal Koi and Octagonal Midnight Ocean, but there may be others. Retail price for the Octagonal Midnight Ocean was $1000 MSRP, with $800 apparently being the standard offered price. The cap band and clip are more elaborate on the Octagonal variant than the standard celluloid.
