There are two styles in Platinum x Itoya(?) shop collection: Beckoning Cat (Maneki-neko) and Lucky Clover. Each of the two styles comes with or without a diamond embedded in the rollstop.
I found this collection while scrolling through eBay, specifically the cat. Googling didn’t help much, but I did find this page, which confirmed the legitimacy of the pen. I had seen the Lucky Clover once before on Instagram, but I didn’t connect the two until a member of the Platinum #3776 Century Collectors Facebook group commented about it.
There is nothing in the documentation of the pen (of course I bought it) to explain why it was made or where it came from. Itoya has sold them, so it was a guess by the commenter.
Maneki-neko
Solid black cap, section, and body, with gold plated trim. The cap band reads “PLATINUM MADE IN JAPAN #3776.” It comes with the standard 14k gold nib. The “beckoning cat” rollstop is 18mm.
Lucky Clover
PNB-30000SA(?) Solid black cap, section, and body, with gold plated trim. The cap band reads “PLATINUM MADE IN JAPAN #3776.” It comes with the standard 14k gold nib. The “lucky clover” rollstop is…I don’t know. It looks bigger than the “Beckoning Cat” rollstop.
Rarity and Availability
The Platinum x Itoya(?) Beckoning Cat and Lucky Clover come in clusters on eBay. This year I have seen at least four “Beckoning Cat” pens, but I have yet to see the Lucky Clover this year. I paid $275 for the cat, but prices vary from $250-335. I’ve never seen the version with the diamond available anywhere.
