Platinum Regional Exclusives

To date, Platinum has made seven regional exclusives.

North America

Carnelian (2019)

This is the first Platinum pen produced exclusively for the North American market. Orange-red body with subtle sparkle. At the time of this post, it is becoming harder to find, so grab it if you still want it.

Sands of Komodo (2023)

This is the second Platinum 3776 Century produced exclusively for the North American market (2023). Teal blue body (similar to Kumpoo’s color) with rose gold trim. The blue and rose gold combo was inspired by the pink sand and blue sea of Komodo Island beach in Indonesia. Odd inspiration for a North America exclusive, but it’s pretty. $380 MSRP, but you’ll find it for $304.

Mountain Mist (2025)

From the marketing copy: A USA-exclusive special edition that marks a first in Platinum’s 106-year history.

The #3776 Century pays tribute to Japan’s iconic Mt. Fuji, whose name derives from its elevation (3,776 meters). For our exclusive edition, we wanted to bring that inspiration closer to where we call home, drawing from the misty ridges and rolling beauty of North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains—where Luxury Brands of America is based.

Over two years in the making, the Mountain Mist is the result of a long-standing collaboration between Luxury Brands of America and Platinum, carefully developed to capture the essence of mountain landscapes. With an elegant interplay of translucent smoky hues, this pen embodies the shifting light and shadow that dance across the peaks.

For the first time ever, this #3776 Century features a custom-branded nib, and multiple colors on one pen, a unique touch that until now, was exclusive to the Platinum overseas market. This special edition is not limited, but it remains a rare offering.

Korea Emerald

Introduced in 2020, this collaboration produced only 150 gold trim pcs and 100 platinum trim pcs. The pen sold out, and it is the most difficult to find on the resale market.

Hong Kong

The Hong Kong regional exclusive launched in 2021. Navy blue resin with lamé. Rhodium plated trim with “HONG KONG” written around the cap ring. The converter features a magenta 5-petal flower representing the Hong Kong flag.

China LEs

In 2020 Platinum began conceptualizing limited edition pens for China. In pursuit of soothing colors, they eventually decided on a transparent teal and a light brown. Platinum produced the pens in late 2022. Both feature the standard Platinum #3776 body and gold trim. The West Lake (西湖) and Tea (茶) are packaged in deluxe boxes with bottles of black Platinum ink, cartridges, converters (though in rhodium trim, they weirdly do not match the trim of the pens themselves, so swap them for gold converters if you like being matchy-matchy), and paperwork.

Specifications

The Platinum Carnelian, Emerald, Hong Kong, West Lake, Tea, and Sands of Komodo all use the “Slip and Seal Mechanism.”

“The #3776 Century applies the patented “Slip & Seal Mechanism” that prevents dye or pigment ink from drying out in the pen. Even after two years of not using the pen, with the cap on, it provides smooth, reliable writing. This mechanism allows those who only use the pen once or twice a year to write with fresh new ink.” – Platinum Pen USA.
