Platinum x Nagasawa Censke, Apricot, and Urban Grey fountain pens.

Platinum x Nagasawa

Nagasawa, known for Kobe inks and Sailor special editions, teamed with Platinum to produce four #3776 shop editions. Each Platinum x Nagasawa features the Nagasawa rooster/cock weathervane etched on the nib with the date 1882. “Nagasawa” appears above, “Kobe” below. The band around the cap says “NAGASAWA Pen Style DEN.”

Nagasawa Censke

The Censke is a demonstrator with either gold trim or rose/pink gold trim. The version with gold trim is easier to find than the more limited rose/pink gold version.

Nagasawa Tarumi Apricot

The Tarumi Apricot, a 2019 demonstrator, was a Nagasawa Shop Exclusive. It was available through late 2020 on their website, but it is now sold out. Nagasawa paired it with Kobe ink, Tarumi Apricot #25. The transparent orange body is paired with gold trim.

Nagasawa Urban Grey

Nagasawa launched the “Urban Grey” in 2021. Limited to 300pcs, this pen was available on the Nagasawa website. The “Urban Grey” features a slightly tinted demonstrator body, section, and end cap; the cap is grey. The rhodium trim is darker, like the Godzilla edition. This pen sold out quickly.

Nagasawa Silhouette

Nagasawa launched the “Silhouette” in Summer 2023. This pen was available on the Nagasawa website. The “Silhouette” features an opaque ivory body and opaque grey cap with yellow gold trim and a 14k gold nib. The body is sand-blasted like the Nice and Jeans Blue for a matte appearance and satin-like feel.

Rarity and Availability

Shop collaborations with Japanese brands/stores are hard to purchase outside Japan. Both JP-Select and Izumi Pen purchase rare shop editions for resale. But if you buy from resellers, expect to pay at least $100 more than the original list price. A cheaper option is a proxy service like White Rabbit. A proxy buyer will purchase the Pen and mail it to you for a fee and shipping costs. Alternatively, set up a mail forwarding service like Blackship to purchase, and send the pen to a Japanese address. Blackship charges the buyer a percentage and forwarding costs to ship from Japan.

Nagasawa editions, however, are easier to purchase, if you order around the release date. You can DM them on Instagram to order most products in their inventory. They send a PayPal invoice and ship via DHL or EMS the next day.

The Censke resells for $150-200 on eBay. The Apricot resells $200-300, mostly through resellers on Instagram or r/Pen_Swap. Resellers charge $300+ for the Urban Grey. The Silhouette retailed for 28,600 yen.
